Ralph Stanley II
On this album, his second for Rebel, Ralph Stanley II further established his growing reputation as a fine singer in the classic Stanley mold. Clearly influenced by Keith Whitley (as well as Carter Stanley & Roy Lee Centers), he has a gentler, more country sound than many Stanley-style singers, and he uses it effectively on a good run of material that includes Stanley classics and a few new songs. With typical solid backing from Ralph senior and the rest of the Clinch Mountain Boys, this is another wonderful collection in the distinctive Stanley style.
